Celebrating Chinese New Year: A Reflection on Spring Festival
As a Chinese person, Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, is one of the most important festivals in my life. It is a time forfamily reunions, delicious food, and colorful decorations.
This year, I spent the first day of the Chinese New Year with my family. We gathered around the table and enjoyed a variety of traditional dishes, such as dumplings, fish, and rice cakes. The atmosphere was lively and festive, with everyone chatting and laughing.
One of the most exciting parts of Spring Festival is thered envelopes. These are small red packets filled with money that are given to children by their elders as a way of blessing them with good luck and fortune in the new year. As a child, I always looked forward to receiving these red envelopes, and now as an adult, I enjoy giving them to my younger relatives.
Another important tradition during Chinese New Year is thelion dance. This is a performance where dancers dressed in colorful lion costumes dance to loud drumming and cymbals. The lion dance is believed to bring good luck and fortune, and many people will hire performers to come to their homes or businesses to perform the dance.
Reflecting on the Spring Festival, I am grateful for the time spent with my family and thetraditionsthat we uphold. It is a reminder of the importance of family, and the power of tradition in bringing people together. As we enter into the new year, I am filled with hope and excitement for what is to come, and I wish for good health, happiness, and prosperity for all.
